The MLB regular season has come to an end, and the MLB Wild Card ran from October 1st through October 3rd, if necessary. by Justin Andrio and Kaden Cragin Start Of the Season: The 2024 MLB season started on Thursday, March 28, 2024. All 30 MLB teams were set to play, some at home and some away. There were offseason trades and signings, some were huge, like Juan Soto getting traded to the New York Yankees and Chris Sale to the Braves. Fans also got one of the greatest players of our generation, Shohei Ohtani, moving to one of the biggest organizations in the MLB, The Los Angeles Dodgers. Cade Trinkle gave his opinion on the offseason moves. “I think those were the best trades/signings this season, but Shohei was just too much money for him to not even pitch this season and I'm an astros fan and that was a waste of money because he just sold our playoff run yesterday.” Postseason Odds (via FanGraphs) At the beginning of the season, the odds looked much different compared to now. The Odds at the start of the season were:
Now, the odds to end the season are:
Brayden Kelly, says, “I wanted to say the Braves [to win] but that's not looking too good right now, so I'm going with the Padres, they’re looking very strong. Personally I hate the Yankees because I’m a Red Sox fan. … The Dodgers are just a super-team with unlimited money and that's just unfair so I want the Padres to beat them. I love Tatis Jr. and I want them to go all the way this year.” ![]() Shohei Ohtani (via MLB, ESPN) Shohei Ohtani has had high expectations throughout his career, but for this season they were exceptionally high, because of the big move to the Dodgers. Shohei started the season very poorly. Everyone had thought the pressure of LA was getting to him or even the hype surrounding him wasn't there anymore, But he proved all of them wrong coming into the second month of the season. He got into a hitting streak throughout the season and never slowed down. Heading into September, Shohei Ohtani was on pace to do something nobody in MLB history has ever done. A 50/50 season (50 home runs and 50 stolen bases). Ohtani was inching closer to the record when on September 22, he finally did it. He ended his season with 54 home runs, 130 RBIs, 59 stolen bases, and the Dodgers holding the 1st seed in the NL and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Joseph Ethridge, says, “… there should be a different club for two way players like Shohei….” He continues, “My expectation for him is to see him pitch getting back on the mound coming from his injury [next year]” Unfortunately, the MLB season is coming to a close. However, that doesn’t mean it’s over. Fans still have a month of the best baseball of the whole season: the playoffs. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
