The Walnut Grove varsity team won Thursday’s away non-conference game against the Prince Avenue Christians by a score of 2-0. by Kweku Assan and Kaden Cragin The Walnut Grove Warriors played against Prince Avenue on October 3. They played an amazing game. Prince Avenue was a very good opponent. They were able to withstand the pressure, but the Warriors came out on top. The Warriors came out and won the game 2-0 by winning the first two sets. All of the players played well. Lily Ginn, a senior on the Warrior varsity team, said this about the game: “The team performed amazingly. Our energy and drive to win was at its highest.” She continued by saying this. “In the second set, we had a little problem with our serves, but we fixed it, and we ended up pulling through the set.” Other players on the team also recognized their main problem. Their only problem was their serving in the second set. Josie Knight, a freshman on the Warrior varsity team, said this about their serving. “We could have done better on our serving.” Some players on the Warriors didn’t think Prince was too much of a challenge, but what made Prince good was the hitters. Josie Knight, a freshman on the varsity team said, “What really made them a good opponent to go against was their hitters.” The warrior varsity volleyball team did well as a team. Some players feel like they could use some improvement on working together. Isabella Johnson, a sophomore on the Warrior Varsity volleyball team said, “I think we played really well and played as a team.... I think we played at our best... I still think we could improve on working together.’’ Overall, the varsity team feels really good about the win against Prince Avenue. They will be preparing. The Warrior ladies did well. They have worked hard to be able to get where they are today. They also have been able to discipline themselves and recover from tough losses. Hopefully, they do well once they go into the regional tournament. UPDATE: The Warrior ladies lost 2-0 against Jefferson. They are currently recovering from the loss. That was also the last non-conference game before the regional tournament. They went on to beat Madison County and Flowery Branch on October 8th.
