Lawson has experienced many ups and downs in the work field and balancing his responsibilities as a student. He expresses, “A big challenge I faced during the program was managing my work time with my school time. I had to learn to not let work come before school.”
Lawson Thomas shares, “Work-based learning makes a connection between the classroom and real-world experiences.” The experience has also helped him move closer to his future career. “This program has helped me get a lot more experience and good time working toward my end goal of becoming a welder,” Lawson stated. He describes his job as fast-paced. “My work environment is busy and loud all the time, but I love it. Some of my responsibilities are cutting and sandblasting material, welding, and grinding.” Lawson encourages other students to stay focused and committed. “Do your assignments on time and show up for work and you will do great. Ultimately, Lawson’s commitment to both his work and education shows students that if they work hard enough, they can accomplish great things.
