Spring break is a time that students eagerly anticipate, and this past week in Walnut Grove was no exception. As the school halls emptied and students buzzed with excitement; WG students took full advantage of their break. From local adventures to trips out of town, the week was filled with memorable experiences and a much-needed break. While taking a deeper look at how our students spent their spring break, highlighting some of the most exciting and thrilling activities they enjoyed.
Marlee Mathis took a drive down to Orange beach, Alabama for a change of scenery. Marlee spent most of her time with her family and Carter Waldrip, when she wasn’t soaking up the sun, she was caught relaxing by the pool and catching up on sleep. Marlee expressed, “Going to the beach gave me a much needed break... My favorite experience during the break was tanning.”
While some students were out and about, others stayed home and had a blast! Cade Riffel, spent most of his days during the break playing baseball and honing his skills in the game. Riffel also had his fun while taking a peaceful fishing trip and hanging out with friends. Meanwhile, Eli Shuler found joy in wrestling all week, practicing to be the best. Another student, Madison Leavell spent her time in Monroe, doing tons of shopping, and wrapping her week with a calming fishing trip. Two students had quite a filled week, Dylan Hutchins had quite the adventure over the break. He shared, “I went on a cruise, we visited the Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Turks of Caicos.”
Elly Croft went to the Kemasik Beach in Florida and had the pleasure of swimming with Manatees. One thing Elly wished she got a chance to do was “swim with dolphins.”
Overall, many students felt that the break was not only enjoyable but also much-deserved. After the intensity of midterms and testing came our way, having time to relax and recharge was very beneficial for everyone. Whether students and staff spent it traveling, hanging out with friends or family, or enjoying hobbies at home, the break provided a perfect opportunity to unwind and prepare for the rest of the school year ahead. Hutchins expressed his break was “...relaxing and peaceful.”
A large portion of our students agreed the break was very relaxing and helped our students and staff recharge and get a preview of summer break. Elly Croft expressed her break was a 9 out of 10 because, “...I spent most of my time with my boyfriend and got to sleep in.” Madison Leavell agreed, “It gave me a break to just recharge, but I'm ready for school to be over.”
After a refreshing break filled with various activities, students are now adjusting back into their school routines. The transition from relaxed days and hanging out with friends to the structured routine of the classes and homework is challenging. However, many students are finding ways to smoothly shift gears to get back to their groove. Nevertheless, many are already anticipating the arrival of summer, looking forward to another period of relaxation and enjoyment.
