Yearbook Staff Brings the Year Together Through the Pages

The WGHS yearbook staff of 2026-2027 highlights what goes on behind the scenes of creating the yearbook. They encourage students to join the Walnut Grove yearbook staff in the future!

​The WGHS yearbook staff of 2026-2027 highlights what goes on behind the scenes of creating the yearbook. They encourage students to join the Walnut Grove yearbook staff in the future!

After joining the yearbook this year, sophomore Daniela Rodriguez-Gutierrez has already discovered how much work goes into creating the yearbook. The reason she wanted to be in yearbook is that she was interested in being able to design the pages and take pictures of the athletes. She is excited for the football and student pages, but she wishes they would add a yearbook staff page to represent the yearbook class. Her favorite part so far has been "...learning new things and being able to get to know everyone and get along as a family, and grow together." She is currently working on the varsity softball page, where she is interviewing people with her partner and getting the story of the team and how they all have grown this year. Yearbook is a very fun thing to do, and if someone ever wanted to join, Daniela would tell them "...to do it and enjoy it, because it's very rare that you'll be able to be a part of a great family like this; don't take advantage of being a part of the yearbook; work hard to make the book look special and have a meaning to it." The hardest part of yearbook would be interviewing and finding the story because sometimes Daniela doesn't have the answers she’s looking for or enough information, and she will have to redo the story.

Jayden White, a junior at WGHS, is starting his second year doing the yearbook. Jayden first discovered doing yearbook when his friend Ella McCann told him how fun it was, so he decided to join during his sophomore year of high school. After doing the yearbook last year, Jayden has made some great memories. His favorite memory has been a soccer coverage he did with his three other yearbook staff members. He said, "We got all our pictures, then got some snacks and sat on the track by the field to watch the rest of the game." Jayden is most excited for the student life pages: "...they give a lot of creative freedom. Student life pages are a lot of fun to come up with the theme and go ask random people questions." Right now, Jayden is working on the JV football page for the September deadlines. Jayden encourages others to join the yearbook staff in the future. To be on the yearbook staff, you have to be creative and willing to work hard. "...Being on yearbook staff, you NEED to have creativity to have the most fun with your spreads and make them come out the best." Jayden closes with, "Yearbook is one of the most fun things that I've done during high school, going to games to take pictures and also meeting new people on the yearbook staff. Interviewing people definitely has helped me with talking to new people and getting out of my comfort zone."

Yearbook is a great way to express your creativity and ideas. Even though a yearbook may seem to be just a simple collection of photos and memories, there is a lot of work that goes into designing and writing the pages.
