College Football Scoreboard Week 810/23/2024

On September 17th, 2024, the WG Lady Warrior Volleyball team hosted a doubleheader against the Eastside Eagles and the Flowery Branch Falcons. The Warriors split the matches, winning one and losing one.

College Football is back! Week 1 returned with a coup of Thursday Night games (8/30/24), including a close Colorado-NDSU game. Games continued on Friday and Saturday with tons, tons, and tons of action. Close games, blowouts, all there is to love looking forward to this season.

On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, Walnut Grove Football and Loganville’s Football teams played on Loganville’s home field. WGHS dismantled them, 48-19, and won their first game vs. Loganville in school history.

The 2024 Paris Olympics started on July 26th and lasted until August 11th, 2024. The United States of America and China tied for the most gold medals (40), and the U.S. came home with the most medals in total, via AP News.

On Saturday, April 20th, 2024, the NHL Playoffs kicked off with a Carolina Hurricanes victory over the New York Islanders in Game 1 of the best-of-7 series. The Boston Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-1, to end the first day. The first round continued, and it will end by Sunday May 5th.

MLB Opening Week4/10/2024
On March 29th, 2024, the MLB season returned after five long months. Twenty-six teams played on Opening Day, besides the Braves vs. Phillies and Brewers vs. Mets which were postponed, due to rain delay, until the next day.

The UFL? What is that?3/20/2024
The UFL is the combination of two former leagues, the XFL and the USFL. The UFL was announced on December 31st, 2023 by Fox. The founders are former WWE Superstar and Hollywood Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Film Producer Dani Garcia.

Op/Ed: March Madness Tournament Picks3/13/2024
On March 19th, 2024, March Madness will kick off its games with the First Four, and go into the Round of 64 on March 21st. The Championship game will be held on Monday, April 8th at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where the Arizona Cardinals play and the CFB Fiesta Bowl is held.

On Tuesday February 13th, the Walnut Grove Varsity Baseball Team opened their season vs. Oconee County. The game was held at Walnut Grove’s field, and Walnut Grove won 5 to 0.

Cameria Reed is a senior at Walnut Grove High School. She has been on the Girls Varsity Basketball team for multiple years, and on January 12th, she achieved a high accomplishment. She scored her 1,000th point.
