Walnut Grove High School’s FCA leaders highlight WG-affiliated sports teams every month on Wednesday mornings. They encourage the coaches and athletes and pray for their performance on the field.

Tenth grader, Brady Dubal, shares how he serves FCA at track. “...So what I'll do is I'll just lead by example. I'll make sure to pray before I race (at every meet). I'll always lead prayers and try to do Bible studies with some of the people on the team,” he explains.
He also talks to his coaches about including other track related teams in his Bible studies and prayers. Dubal says, “A lot of it is just leading by example and trying to be a good example to the people on the team.” Coach Abner, track and football coach, states how he sees FCA’s impact on his players. “I think it's a good thing. It's good for these athletes to get involved and to stay involved [in FCA]. [It’s good for players] to get around individuals who have the same mindset but also the same spirituality,” Abner says. He believes it’s a great idea that FCA meets every Wednesday and highlights teams because it takes away the stressors of school and sports. Abner expresses, “It's good to have something to fall back on and be able to have a positive energy for them to focus on.” Dubal wants them to leave FCA feeling like they felt included. “I want them to feel welcome, and I want them to feel like anybody can go.” Abner believes that FCA is a good foundation and backbone for athletes to have. “...It's a resource, but I think it's a good foundation for them to have when they are struggling with life, knowing that they have brothers and sisters who are going through the same thing,” Abner shares. Dubal wants all athletes at WG (even the athletes in FCA) to succeed. He wants them to use those successes to glorify God. “...That they get a lot of wins but most importantly just glorify God,” he says. He uses his platform to show other athletes that all his wins come from God. At FCA, Dubal and the other leaders use Wednesday mornings to pray over athletes and give them an encouraging word. “We give the coaches gifts, and we just extend a prayer over them and pray that the rest of their season goes well,” he concludes. FCA starts at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. Come for prayer, fellowship, and some fun games. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
