While Rockstar Games announced that their long-awaited addition to the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been delayed until May 26, 2026, they released a new trailer to keep fans satisfied and excited. That begs the question: Will GTA VI be worth the hype?
by Emery Brown and Justin Andrio
Emery Brown:
Grand Theft Auto is said to be one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, with GTA V being the second-best-selling video game of all time, selling over 210,000,000 copies in a little more than a decade (The Times of India). Even after ten years, the game still attracts tens of thousands of fans, new and veteran alike, every single day. Additionally, internet content creators and influencers have entire careers based on this one game. This incredibly loyal fan base has generated a lot of hype for GTA VI over the years, meaning that Rockstar has a lot to live up to. Rockstar Games’ last release, Red Dead Redemption II, is my favorite game of all time. Its story is heartfelt and engaging. Its open world is incredibly layered and dynamic, with countless things to explore. Its combat is smooth and satisfying, making you feel like a real professional gunslinger. It’s been roughly seven years since its release, meaning that GTA VI has been in development for roughly that time, according to Rockstar’s development history. This time and effort can be seen in the two trailers Rockstar has put out for GTA VI. Its graphics are almost discernible from reality and even incorporates multiple real-life applications, such as FL Studio, seemingly allowing players to create their own tracks under the in-game label Only Raw Records. The story crosses multiple iconic locations from the GTA franchise in a crime-filled romance plot, something never done before by Rockstar. All these factors and more mean GTA VI has a lot to live up to. However, considering Rockstar’s incredible track record, the promising features we’ve already seen, and the success and quality of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, I believe that it’ll live up to the hype. Furthermore, I predict that GTA VI will have the most successful release in gaming history and will go on to outsell its predecessor. Justin Andrio: Grand Theft Auto V is one of my most favorite games of all time. It was released in 2013 and was one of the most hyped games to come out during its time. This game was in the realm of Minecraft which is the best selling game of all time, and is only second to Minecraft. I started playing this game on my old PS4 and played story mode and Online. I've recently started to play it more since there will be a new GTA release, and I want to get some of the memories back and finish the story mode one last time or even just drive around in story mode and take in the scene of Los Santos. GTA 6 will be the most hyped game of all time due to the very late release and all the setbacks that have come with it. I plan on playing GTA 6 story mode when it releases and finish it the very next day!! The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
