4/2/2025

Over the past week here at WGHS we had a career day about an introduction to career competencies for some of the students. They got a firsthand look at the high-powered future at the Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association for career day.

Grant Warren (10th)
Grant Warren is a 10th grader here at Walnut Grove, he attended the career day that they held this year. He said how he really enjoyed the career day held for the pathway. He said, “It gave me extra information about electricity.” He also stated, “There are a lot of different places to go for electricity.” Most people are interested in this pathway, but some people are like Grant: he said, “Not really, because I'm not interested in it.” But he said, “It was fun and interesting.” He does recommend that more people join the pathway because some things are fun and interesting but he mentioned, “I think more students should join the pathway.”

Cruz Beaver (10th)
Cruz Beaver is a 10th grader here at Walnut Grove high school, he attended the career day that they held this year. We were talking about the information that they learned during the career day and he stated, “It gave me extra information about electrical [work]... There are a lot of different places to go for electricity.” Most of the students that attended the career day want to have that kind of job/experience in their life. Cruz said, “Yes, because it motivates you to get good grades for school.” Most of the kids enjoyed the career day, and they learned a lot of new things. Cruz mentioned, “It was fun, and I learned a lot.” One thing that Cruz mentioned was, “If you like working outside, then I would recommend it.”

Caine Beaver (10th)
Caine Beaver attended the career day at Walnut Grove to learn more and expand his thoughts of different careers. He says, “It was interesting and provided good information for your life.” Caine received good information and will grow from this experience. He says, “Yes, this is a job I would consider because it's very hands-on... It taught me to pay attention and learn.” In three words, Caine described the career day as, “Fun, interesting, exciting.” This event showed him a job he is considering for his future. He said, “...It's something I look forward to doing.” Caine would recommend this career event to other students that are interested in the same information as himself. He says, “If that's what they are going for, then yeah, I would recommend it.” Overall Caine had a positive experience and learned a lot at the career day held at Walnut Grove.

As a result I hope the students had a great time during the career day learning lots of new things. Hopefully all the information they learned will help them in the future or for their upcoming grade if they choose to take that pathway.
