Is Love Forever? (Op/Ed)

The new movie Forever was put on Netflix on May 8th, 2025. Entertainment staff DaNija Thomas will be giving her opinions and thoughts on the new movie.

​I really loved this show. It was about these 2 teenagers who went to school together and they rekindled at a friend’s party. They started texting more and began to be in a relationship but little did Justin know Keshia had a past and she was very hard to love. I feel like this movie spoke to me and I actually learned a lot from it.

High school love is a common thing that most teenagers go through. You say that you want to be together forever but is forever an actual thing? As I was watching this I understood both points of view. With them being young, Justin wanted love but not saying Keshia didn’t want that either; she was just trying to make her mother proud. She wanted her mother to think she raised this perfect daughter. But what Keshia failed to realize is that not everyone is perfect. Mistakes have to be made and she even knows that because she made one herself. Justin loved Keshia. He was willing to try over and over and over with her. Keshia also loves Justin. She sacrificed traveling across the world  to be with Justin. And in reality if she didn’t do the things she did to get to that point, I don’t think things wouldn’t have gone on for as long as they did. But Keshia also let her past get in the way of a lot of things. She even tried to hide her past but it came back on her.

​People say that this movie makes you think of your first love but to me it makes you think about life in general. It makes you look at high school love a lot differently. If both of the people want it, they BOTH will fight for it and will do everything in that power to keep it together. Even if it’s not in that moment that it’s meant to be. You will take time apart to work on something BOTH of you want.I can say I got emotional watching this. I definitely recommend watching this show. I finished it in a day. It’s very inspiring and I really loved it.
