Megan Mathis (12) has truly distinguished herself as the work-based student of the month at WGHS. Her dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm have set her apart from her peers. Megan’s ability to balance her academic responsibilities while outshining in her WBL tasks is a testament to her work ethnic and commitment. Miss Mathis is currently interning at …elementary, and  teaching first grade students.

Megan explains how her internship is going, “It’s been a lot of fun because I’ve been able to work with many first graders and they are so much fun and they’re beautiful. I wouldn't change it for the world, I’m like their second teacher. It’s awesome.”

Mathis agrees work-based learning is an incredible way to connect with other people and strengthen one's skills. Megan added, “I think it's really good, I would definitely do it, especially if you don’t know what you want to do after college. It's just a really good opportunity.”

Work-based learning allows students to develop essential skills, gain valuable work experience, and get insight to future career paths. This program not only enhances students’ skills but also makes them more prepared and competitive for the workforce. “Through work-based, I have met a lot more people and it's just joyful and It’s basically a full day. I go to high school then I go do my internship, so it's like an everyday routine, I’ve really gotten used to it.” Megan explained.

By participating in WBL, students like Megan Mathis at Walnut Grove high school are gaining valuable practice and skills. This program ensures they are well prepared for the workforce, setting a strong example for future students.
