Off-White New York Fashion Show (OP/ed)

The Off White Fashion Show happened on September 9th, 2024 in New York. Entertainment staff Danija Thomas and Chloe Fankah give their opinions on the outfits designs and fashion.

Chloe:
I really loved the theme and concept of the show, but I wasn’t so impressed with the runway outfits. In my opinion some of the outfits were kinda cute, but the others had some really interesting color combinations that I didn’t really like. 

Now with the celebrities, their outfits looked good! I loved Rihanna’s outfit, but it seemed uncomfortable because she had to hold it up the whole time, but overall I loved the color, and pattern of the material. 

For my preference though, my favorite outfit…it’s between Camilla Cabello and Ayra Starr. Just because their outfits looked more simple, not too much, just very demure and elegant. Now I wouldn’t say that I hate this outfit, but the one outfit I didn’t like was Mary J Blige’s outfit. The leather jacket and leather boots were clashing. And the hair…I feel like there was already red and yellow on the jacket and the top, it would’ve been better if she went with a black color on the hair instead of red. And those shades made the outfit worse, because they were yellowish, it was giving McDonalds…in my opinion.

For the show itself, I was expecting to see darker colors on the runway, and some bright colors. Especially since it was “Off-White”, I wanted to see different shades of the same color together, but I did see a lot of red and yellow, not only with the celebrities but the runway models.

I didn’t really know who was going to be there, but I was excited to see Rihanna, Ayra Starr, Naomi Campbell, etc. 

And I think Cardi B should’ve been present just because she has a really great fashion sense, and her fashion stylist [Kollin Carter] is pretty good at putting her outfits together, she would’ve fit the theme perfectly. 


Danija:
I really liked how everything turned out. I mean it was a pretty good theme to go for. The outfits were very cute and everybody showed their best dress. I feel like they could have done better from some of the outfits that I saw, but if they like it then I can’t do anything but love it. 

I loved the celebrities' outfits. I really loved Coco Jones' outfit; the only thing I didn’t like was her hair. I felt like she could’ve done one of them trending hairstyles with the two butterfly braids going across. Or she could’ve even had the swoop of her ponytail a little lower but I don’t like how high it was. I also really liked Riahnna’s dress omg it was so tea. I love how the dress looks. The only thing I really don’t like is how she has to keep holding the slips because her chest has gotten bigger since she has had her child. I loved her sandals, they were so cute. I like her outfit so much because it is something that I would wear. 

I didn’t like DDG’s outfit because it was so simple and plain. He could have done a lot better because normally his outfits are very pressure when it comes to events like this but I guess this time  he wanted to be different. OMG !! I really didn’t like NLE Choppa’s outfit. I mean the red was very cute but the outfit itself was hideous. He looked like a ketchup bottle. The shirt or jacket he had was too tight but I loved the way it looked not gonna lie. 

When it came down to the off white fashion show, I got exactly what I was expecting. The same ole weird-looking-ugly-but-cute-type of clothes that the celebrities had on. Some of them were cute, but some of them had me questioning why they came out the house with that on and what made them think that that was cute because it isn’t? I feel like it could’ve been more exciting then the same ole boring or not as good outfits that they normally wear. 

I wasn’t really expecting to see anyone because if we are being honest the same ole people are always there. I’m glad that the celebrities were able to get out of the house to have a good time and to get dressed up and to go out to see other peoples’ fashion.

I felt like Cardi B should’ve been there if she wasn’t because her- and her kids'- outfits are always so cute, so I feel like she would've broken the internet with this one.



All in all we thought the show was a hit! We both agree that Cardi B should have been present at the fashion show. Even though we had different thoughts on our expectations, we really loved the celebrities’ clothes and we had a few that we weren’t so into. Regardless, we can’t wait to see more!
