Avalyn Godoy
Avalyn, one of the many seniors here at WGHS, shared that she has been working hard to stay prepared: “I'm doing a lot of studying just to get through all of my classes and making sure I have all the stuff I need to apply for everything I want to do.” Along with staying on top of schoolwork, she also shares how nerve-wracking graduating can be. “I've been with the same people for 18 years, [and] now I'm about to go into the real world, and we’re all going to do our own thing. So, there is just something a little scary about that,” she said. Even though she is excited to graduate, Avalyn explains how she will miss her drama friends and her drama teacher, Mrs. Gibson. Nevaeh Bryant Nevaeh also expresses similar feelings about graduating. “The most nerve-wracking thing about graduating is going out into the real world.” Nevaeh has also been working hard and focusing on finishing strong. She has been making sure her grades are the best they can be. Other than the nerves about graduating and working hard on schoolwork, Nevaeh still feels ready for this next big step in her life. “It feels good to be graduating. It feels like a long time coming because I feel like I've been in school for a really long time,” she explains. Nevaeh also shared a more exciting side of her plans: “The first thing I'm doing after I graduate is skydiving.” Jackson Knight Jackson is ready to get a head start on his life after high school. “I just got my acceptance into Georgia Southern last week, so I’ve started working on housing,” he said. As he looks ahead, he knows things in life will be pretty different. “There’s no hand-holding… You know you have to make your own decisions… so that’s definitely kind of scary, but it’s also exciting,” Jackson stated. Jackson also highlights the hard work and dedication students have put in to reach this exciting moment in their lives. “We’ve been working our whole life to this point… so, I mean, I feel amazing in getting to pursue my future.” As graduation approaches, seniors at WGHS continue to balance their nerves, excitement, and anticipation for this huge achievement.
