As of September 23, the movie has a 7.7/10 on IMDb, a 3.8/5 on Letterboxd, and a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. On IMDb, we also get to read the story behind the movie: “A hapless courier is tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.” Even during filming, they kept up some suspense with their scenes of action and buildup of fear for the protagonist. In our very own Walnut Grove High School, we find Bronx Williams, a student who sees potential greatness in the Resident Evil franchise’s newest entry. From what he knows about the movie, Bronx claims, “I think it will honor the games to an extent, but not necessarily recreate one of the games.” He also says that the film appears to have inspiration and items from the game while also managing to be its own story that fits into the universe. As for his opinions on zombie media as a whole, Bronx believes, “If it’s done right, it can be very good, but if it’s not, it can be really bad.” Luckily for Bronx, many critics seem to agree that the film has, in fact, been done right and that fans of the undead series have lots to look forward to. So, is the movie reasonably acclaimed by critics or an overrated waste of time? While the film’s reviews lead us to believe that it’s one of the best cinematic contributions of 2026 so far, the only way to really know the level of quality for yourself is to make your way to the theater and support the production yourself.
