With the release of a new teaser trailer, Disney Pixar has announced a fifth installment to the hit franchise that birthed Pixar as a studio: Toy Story. Here at WGHS, a student shares her thoughts on the new film as a whole.
It is no surprise that Pixar is desperate for a film that will generate revenue. In recent years, Pixar’s filmography has been... less-than-pleasing to most. This is especially true now that they are continuing their Toy Story franchise with a fifth movie after the seemingly perfect conclusion to the story in Toy Story 4. “I thought, ‘Oh, another Toy Story movie,’” says Genia Wilson (11). “I thought the franchise was done.” Along with many other people, Genia feels that the film was not necessary to Pixar’s repertoire of not-so-great movies. However, she said there “is no harm in adding to childhood movies.” After Pixar’s recent box-office failures, Genia felt that the movie may bring in the revenue Pixar is looking for “since people love Toy Story.” Genia shared her less-than-excited thoughts on the film’s release: “I don’t have any feelings about it. It’s just another movie.” Simply said, Toy Story fans are not the most excited about the add-on to the story. With the return of Woody and Buzz, it is simply safe to say you’ve got a friend in the theater. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
