Senior Spotlight: Aviya Thompson

Aviya Thompson is a Walnut Grove High School senior and plays on the Lady Warrior Varsity Basketball and Softball Teams. Aviya is one of the key players on the team playing point guard and guard.

Getting Into Sports
Aviya Thompson is a Lady Warrior in both athletics and academics. She loves to play basketball and softball. Her love and passion for both games are priceless. She comes from a family of athletes, which made her decide to join the softball and basketball teams. Aviya started basketball when she was 4 years old, and from there on, she gained a love for both sports. Aviya feels like being into sports is a part of her family tradition, and she strives to keep that tradition alive.
 
Current Sports
Aviya plays basketball and softball. She is one of the key players on both teams. This year will be her last season before she heads to college. She plans on playing softball in college. It will also be quite an emotional season as she plays her last few games for the Walnut Grove Warriors. Aviya said, "It's bittersweet because it's my last season, but I had some seasons taken away from me due to my injuries.” She continued, “I would keep going if I could.” She has fortunately recovered from 3 knee injuries. She also said, “I tore my meniscus, my ACL in my right leg, and my meniscus in my right leg.” She has bounced back from the unfortunate setbacks and is able to participate in her last 2 seasons for the Lady Warriors in basketball and softball. 

Aviya has a bright future ahead of her and is looking forward to college. Aviya is ready for the next chapter of her life after high school.
