Eli Schuler, a senior at Walnut Grove High School, prepares to close this chapter of his life. He offers advice and shares insights with freshmen to help them prepare for the future.
Eli, an athlete, has dedicated a lot of effort to reach his current position. He shares the reasons why he began wrestling. “Honestly, I was a fat little kid, kept getting bullied, and decided to make a change…” He credits wrestling as the most formative experience of his life, building his personal assurance and molding who he is today. “It gave me a lot more confidence, and when you have confidence, you’re unbeatable in the mind.” This part of his life has been so transformational that he suggests underclassmen follow in his footsteps. “Yeah, join the wrestling team. I think that’s the best advice because it can boost your confidence from the floor to the ceiling.” Eli plans not to wrestle after high school, stating, “...I’ve wrestled pretty much every day my whole life since the 10th grade. So I’m kind of done with it.” He instead plans to focus on education after high school: “I’m going to go to a lineman school and work on power lines.” Walnut Grove wishes him the best of luck!
