Walnut Grove High School STAR Student: Samuel Goins

Senior Samuel Goins here at Walnut Grove High School was selected as STAR student and the System Winner for WCSD! He was recognized by the Walton Chamber of Commerce at the 2025 star event.

Student Samuel Goins is a senior here at WGHS at the age of 14! Samuel has earned awards for having the highest test scores in the district and also having the highest SAT/ACT scores in the county.  Mr. Allen, the principal here at Walnut Grove high school helped Samuel achieve his goals with these programs.

Samuel states, “I got nominated to go to the region level because I got nominated the best for the county. It's honestly a symbol of my personal motivation... I honestly didn't think about the award when I was doing my studying and all that, I mostly just went for the high scores and all that for personal satisfaction and my personal motivation standard I hold myself to.”

Principal Allen says, “Sammy first of all is a bright light. He has been exemplary here ever since he was young. He has been helping students.” Samuel does a lot of things after school, but most of the time he teaches college students, and he also tutors people. Being in the STAR student program is for the top 10 best test scores, Mr. Allen mentions, “We always have a star student, what is different about Sammy is he is fourteen years old and that's never happened before. Actually, he is the youngest student we have ever had at Walnut Grove.”

Samuel became a freshman in high school at just 10 years old, and he wants to be an engineer dealing with technology. 

Samuel mentioned, “Well honestly pretty much all my teachers have stuck with me; there a lot of things I remember about them. The reason I chose that teacher is because she was the one who actually let me skip grades because if you didn't know, I'm 14!”

Mr. Allen knows that Samuel has a lot of good things ahead of him. “I think he wants to be an engineer. But there's no limit for him, and I believe he will be successful wherever he goes.”

As a result everyone is beyond proud of Samuel for all of his amazing accomplishments and his dedication to be successful. He has many amazing things ahead of him in life and his career.
