Game Recap *stats from ESPN*
The Philadelphia Eagles won, 40-22. The Eagles outmatched the Chiefs heavily, with the pass rush from the Eagles getting to Mahomes six times and forcing him into two costly interceptions, one being a pick six. The refs started off the game hot, with an extremely questionable offensive pass-interference call on AJ Brown. The call was on a huge 4th-down, which the Eagles picked up, but would be called back to the OPI call. The Eagles would score on their next drive, followed by a field goal on their next drive. Patrick Mahomes threw a pick six to Cooper Dejean midway through the second quarter, and the Eagles would end the half with another touchdown. The Eagles went into halftime up 24-0. The Chiefs opened up the half with yet another punt, which the Eagles turned into a field goal. The Chiefs would not score until they were down 34-0, at the end of the third quarter. The Chiefs offense finally found a spark in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. The Chiefs ended up punting six punts for 311 yards compared to the Eagles’ two punts for 96 yards. Jalen Hurts was awarded the Super Bowl MVP. Hurts threw for 221 yards on a 77% completion percentage with two touchdown passes and one interception thrown. Hurts also had 11 carries for 72 yards and a “tush push” touchdown. He also threw for 10 yards per attempt, had a 75.4 QBR and a 119.7 passer rating. Saquon Barkley was the biggest addition of free agency. In his first season with Philadelphia, he helped carry them to the Super Bowl in an amazing season. He ran for 2,005 yards in the regular season, paired with 13 touchdowns. He also ran for 499 yards and five touchdowns in the Playoffs. With both regular season and playoff stats combined, Barkley ran for the most yards in a single season, at 2,504 yards. He broke Eric Dickerson’s record held since 1984, which stood at 2,105. ![]()
