Sydney Sweeney Return to Euphoria (News

WGHS students and teachers have different opinions about Sydney Sweeney returning back to Euphoria to reprise her role as Cassie in 2025.

Sydney Sweeney, in an interview, said how she doesn't know any details, but she loves exploring the darker side of her character. She states, “I’m very excited to jump back into Cassie. She is definitely one of the most special characters for me, and I love my Euphoria family, so I look forward to it.” 

In previous years after the team filmed season 2, she opened up about preparing to return to the show, and spoke about the jump between season one and two. 

“We did have a long time between season one and season two. But especially now with the time jump, it's a new process for me. I’m kind of learning as I go and being open for whatever’s to come, but I’m also really excited. I love Cassie. She is always such a thrilling character to play, so I’m really looking forward to what’s gonna happen in her life.”

Gianna Pittaluga (senior) gives her thoughts on the return of Euphoria, “ I don’t know… I think it’s good. I’m excited to see where they’re going to take it, now that Angus is no longer with us. Like how are they going to make that cliffhanger happen? And what’s going to happen with his character, and Lexi? I was waiting for that, and also, I don’t really know how Rue is going to get that money, so that’s what we're really trying to figure out, because like… what are you doing, Rue?”

She thinks that Sydney plays Cassie well and all the characters play their roles well: “I love Sydney Sweeney, but I don’t like Cassie’s character at all. Like, I understand her… I guess, but I just don’t like her character.” 

Gianna really hopes that Cassie gains some self growth, but she is not expecting that from her.

We asked her who she thinks would play Cassie if Sydney didn’t, and she said “Jeez… I literally don’t know, that’s a hard question. Maybe like that blonde girl that played in Riverdale (Betty Cooper). I think her face would be a good fit for it, maybe not her character, though. I think Sydney Sweeney plays Cassie so well, and she just fits the character physically and with her emotions as well.”

Kassidy Harris (junior) says that she didn’t even know that Euphoria was returning back, and she can’t wait for it! 

She thinks Sydney is the best actor to play Cassie. “She really portrays the role well."

Kassidy then proceeds to say “I’m honestly not expecting any changes in her character because her character seems like someone who wouldn’t change their ways and is really stubborn.” Apart from Sydney, she can’t think of any other actor worthy of playing Cassie’s role, “I honestly can’t think of any other actor playing the role of Cassie.”

Nevaeh Patrick (senior) says that the return of Euphoria is a bittersweet feeling, she loves the show and it’s very dear to her heart. “Knowing the deaths that were involved in and outside of the show it’s very hard… you know? I love her character… I mean I hate her character, but I love the actor, and she just fits the character. I couldn’t change anyone else being Cassie.”

Nevaeh thinks that Sydney Sweeney plays Cassie very well, “She’s a pretty good actor as well so that compliments her character really well.”

She also has some pretty high expectations for Cassie’s character. “I really hope that she matures, and really comes to her senses because Maddie like, she was on that bus so…I just need them to get it together. And I need her character to realize what she did to affect everyone else. I just hope she matures.” She then continues to say that she can’t think of any other actor that can play Cassie as well as Sydney Sweeney except for Lauren Marano from Austin and Ally.

Miss Milligan (teacher) also watched the past seasons of Euphoria, shares her thoughts on the return of the show, “I am excited about the return of Euphoria but I am sad to see it go on without Fez.”

She also states her disapproval of Cassie’s character, “I don’t like Cassie, but I love Sydney Sweeney. I think she plays the role and conveys the emotions of Cassie very well.”

Miss Milligan says that she hopes Cassie has some changes throughout the show and she feels like if Sydney Sweeney didn’t play Cassie then she could see Sabrina Carpenter playing her.

The return of Euphoria is something that everyone is looking forward to. Most people who have watched past seasons of the show are excited to see what happens to that cliffhanger in the last season. Both students and teachers aren’t fan’s of Cassie’s character, but they love Sydney Sweeney, she’s a great actress and does a really good job at portraying Cassie. Many aren’t thrilled with the show going on without Fez, but there are others who are expecting some positive change in Cassie’s character.
