Coach Antwine has been referred to as the “chill teacher”. Many great things are said about his teaching methods and personality created inside his classroom.

Coach Antwine is a history teachers here at Walnut Grove High School. He loves the bond between staff and students, “I love the relationships. While I love teaching history, it's more about the opportunity to form relationships and hopefully make students' high school experience a positive one.” One of the most important ways a teacher can fully reach their students is through the connection built with them. This goes to show how determined Coach Antwine is to teach his students the material they need to learn.

Not only does Coach Antwine care for his students through a teacher’s perspective, but also through a personal perspective. “I love the chance I have every day, hopefully, to make a difference in someone's life.  It might be a smile, a word of encouragement, or a new strategy for learning, but I try to make a difference every day,” he expresses. Antwine uses his kindness to enrich the classroom experiences for his students. This mentality makes school fun for many students, not just a regular school day.

Coach Antwine got started in his teaching career through being a volunteer for teaching young people even while majoring in a different field. What made him interested in teaching all started “...at the University of Georgia in Management Information Systems for computer networking. However, once I began my major classes, I discovered that I loved working with people more and teaching in particular.”

Coach Antwine admired teaching younger people and became a youth pastor after volunteering at a church. This sparked his interest in teaching the youth and eventually grew more into education. After expanding his family, he transitioned into teaching in public schools, “...which was a natural transition because I loved working with kids.”

Coach Antwine prioritizes his faith, God and Christianity have been an inspiration for treating others with kindness and care. His goodwill personality was motivated by his relationship with God, “...I have love in my heart, so I want to treat people the way God has treated me.”

WGHS is proud to have Coach Antwine a part of our community and always undoubtedly spreading love and care into the world and within these halls. Walnut Grove High School is beyond delighted to say you’re one of our educators. Showing care and leaving an impact on all of his students who take his class.
