For the first week of the Grove, our Tennis players have been playing phenomenal. The team is 2-1 right now with a driving mindset of stretching their record. The boys and girls are both having an amazing season so far and each of them have amazing mindsets to drive them further for success into this season. We decided to interview a few of the varsity Tennis players and this is what they had to say about the season going forward.
Mathew Bovenkerk said, “I’ve been interested in Tennis from a young age and I got pretty good at it over time so I always wanted to continue because I thought I was pretty good at it and could play at a high level.” He's always been dedicated to his sport growing up and loves to drive himself to the best competition he can. He said the main reason why he likes to play tennis, “I like having fun hitting with friends, but also when I’m competing and having the desire to win and do well and make good shots.” He loves playing for the team but as much as he loves it, he is the oldest. He said it doesn't bug him, but it is just him and one more senior this year. “The girls are pretty good, the boys are okay. It's a young team, there are only two seniors, most of them are freshman and sophomore,” Matthew Bovenkerk said. While Matthew plays his sport for the competition and love he has for the sport, there's other people on the team with different reasons. Like Ava Pittman for example, she said the reason why she plays tennis is because “It’s just fun.” She also decided to add, “It pushes me to do my best not just in the sport but in general, and I just like tennis.” Although she only plays for the fun of it, she also has her own goals in mind such as “Making my skills better and to win more matches... [by] working hard, practicing, and doing my drills.” She's doing it for the love of herself her love for tennis. For the season pushing forward, Paisley Carter said “We have a lot of talented players on our team, and it's going really well.” Paisley is a Freshman and is ready to dominate on the court. She said that she loves the sport because “It’s really fun to play and I get to hangout with my friends.” She said that it's mind clearing to get out and hit with a friend. The reason why Paisley started this sport: “I thought it would be fun and I wanted to try a new sport.” As you can see, everyone has the same goals to accomplish this season but different reasons to accomplish them. They all want to succeed for different reasons in this particular sport. This is a very young roster of players coming into the season and they are all out for the win. The 2025 Tennis Season for the Warriors will be a year to remember. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
