The Warriors were defeated by Forsyth Central in a scrimmage on Tuesday, November 4. Players Zy Burce, Lewis Hendrix, Jordan McCollum, and Ty Ferguson share their thoughts on this game and their upcoming season.

As the upcoming basketball season approaches, the team reflected on their previous game and looked ahead to their next games. Some of the players gave insight into the Forsyth Central game they had. Lewis Hendrix felt like he did amazing, but said he could have scored more. Jordan McCollum stated, “I feel like I did good cause when I got in the game, I did what I was supposed to do. I could have improved by definitely knocking down some key shots.” While, on the other hand, Zy Burce and Ty Ferguson had some different opinions. Zy said that, “It was bad, lowkey cause like you know me, I got two fouls at the start of the game, Improve: don't foul and be a better team, along with better offense.” Ty, who agreed with him, stated that, “We didn't play the greatest, but it was also one of our first games, so I think we could have improved a lot more on offense and defense.”

The players are preparing for the season. They gave some insight on how they will be preparing for the upcoming season. Lewis said that he was going to listen to NBA YoungBoy to be prepared for a game, while Jordan stated that he was going to, “Work hard every day and work on myself, and also by myself, and not just show up to practice and do nothing afterward.” Zy also plans to work hard, just as he stated, “Working hard in practice, making sure we communicate.” It is Ty’s first year here at Walnut Grove and because of that he said, “Work harder, especially cause it's my first year on high school basketball, so I'll work hard at practice and be outstanding.”

The players are approaching this season with a determined mindset. Jordan stated that he is aiming to be the best, “Be the best out there and try my hardest, and play to the best of my abilities.” Zy wants to step up his game. He said, “Helping the team score and score points, more ball movement, and play music to get us hyped up.” Ty wants to be a better player and is motivated to “Just to be a better player, be a really good defender, and lock anybody up, and make really good shots.”

The Warriors hope to grab the win in their first regular-season matchup against the East Jackson Eagles on Saturday, November 15.
