The Conjuring: Last Rites (Review)

The Conjuring franchise has released a total of 10 horror films, based on true stories. These films show the real case of the Perron Family, who experienced paranormal activity in 1971.

Zada Olawumi, a junior, gave her opinion about The Conjuring: Last Rites while also giving feedback about the earlier movies. “I extremely enjoyed the new Conjuring; all of the details were very well put together. The jumpscares were a 10/10. The movie really knew how to invoke that feeling. What surprised me the most was how every single one of the Conjuring movies tied together perfectly into the last one. I really enjoy all of the Conjuring movies, but I feel like the new Conjuring movie provided more insight into the family, other than the actual paranormal activity, which I really enjoyed. I would give this movie a solid 12 out of 10, and I would definitely watch it again.”

Madison Leavell, also a junior, shares her thoughts on her experience watching The Conjuring: Last Rites, comparing it to other older films. “I've watched the other Conjuring movies, and the new Conjuring was based on the other storylines. It's not as good as the other ones because you can tell that they used AI. What surprised me the most was the issues they ran into. In the movie, some things were unclear, like how the daughter got possessed, and it didn't show how she got unpossessed. So I give this movie an 8/10.”
