FSU on Fraud Watch?
After a Week 0 loss to Georgia Tech on a game-winning field goal and a big loss against Boston College, the College Football world has to wonder: “Is Florida State legit?” Walnut Grove students and staff add their opinions. Jack Peterson, junior, states, “DJ needs to get a job…. Boston College, I mean, they’re a solid ACC team, but it’s time to put DJ on the bench. He missed all the wide-open throws.” He continues about the rest of the season for FSU. “...I think they’re toasted because Miami is winning the ACC….” Mr. Ulrey, a known Florida fan and English Teacher, says, “I think it’s great [seeing FSU lose]. I mean, my team, the Gators, lost as well, but if the Seminoles can lose, then it’s a really good day.” He goes on, “they were definitely overrated to start the year against Georgia Tech. They shouldn’t have been rated that high, and I don’t know why they were still rated [#10] after losing to Georgia Tech. I know it was… a nailbiter, but [FSU] should not be in the top 10....”
Big Games and “Almost” Upsets
Abilene Christian 51-52 Texas Tech (ESPN) After opening the game as 34.5-point favorites, Texas Tech wanted to start their season off with a comfortable win over Abilene Christian. However, the Abilene Christian Wildcats had other plans. Entering halftime, the Red Raiders were up 32-21. It could be better, but it's still winning. In the second half, the Wildcats “locked in.” They scored 24 points and held Texas Tech to only 13 to send the game to overtime Texas Tech started with the ball and scored. Abilene Christian got the ball and scored, but decided to go for two to win the game. Unfortunately, the play was disrupted by the Red Raider defense, and Texas Tech walked away as winners on their home turf. #23 USC 27-20 #13 LSU (ESPN) The upset by USC was a big loss for LSU. The Tigers were favored by only 3.5, but Miller Moss and the Trojans had other plans. Moss had a Heisman-esque performance, throwing for 378 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers, while Garrett Nussmeier threw for 304 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and an interception. USC achieved the victory with a late-game score from Woody Marks, RS Senior, with eight seconds left. The Trojans jumped ten spots in the recent AP poll. NDSU 26-31 Colorado (ESPN) D-II Powerhouse, North Dakota State, traveled to Colorado and almost came away with the victory. Colorado had 504 total yards of offense, compared to NDSU’s 449, so, according to the stats, minimal defense was played. Colorado was 11.5-point favorites, but only won by five. It seemed like Sheduer Sanders was only looking towards two targets, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter, with the two hooking up for 330 of Sanders’ 445 passing yards. This week’s games were just the beginning of this revolutionary season. This season will be like no other, with the inclusion of the 12-team playoff. Fans can walk away from this weekend with high hopes for the rest of the season. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
