Offense
The Warriors ran a great offense last week, putting 31 points on the board. Even though the team put up a great game, some of the players believe that they could improve and could’ve done better than they did. Emadd Howard, the Warriors starting running back, had a great game on Friday night. Howard had 18 carries for 166 yards, scoring four times on the night! He believes he had a pretty good game, but he thinks he could improve. Emadd said, “...there is a lot more stuff I can work on, and get better for the next couple games. Some are like footwork, blocking, finding the gaps, and reading my blocks.” Defense The Warriors defense played exceptionally well last week, not allowing the Discovery offense to get around them. Tyler Davis was one of the players that helped the Warriors secure their win. He had a great interception on the 1 yard line, stopping Discovery from scoring. He ran 58 yards from the 1 yard line. When asked about his mindset during his interception, it was “...go to the house and get that touchdown!” He feels like he had a good game, but believes as a team they could’ve done better, “As a team we did pretty good, but we all had little things messed up on defense and offense, like alignment and little stuff.”
Special Teams
The Walnut Grove Warriors did not disappoint on special teams on Friday night, and they lifted up a lot of energy for the Warriors offense. Cameron Selman, the punt returner for the Warriors, had a great game. Selman had a 78 yard punt return. This really lifted the teams energy and got them excited for the game. Selman was asked about how his returns affected the game, he said, “I think it did, the first one was like the first drive or second drive, and it really picked up the energy for the offense and we went down and scored in like two plays.” Even with the team's amazing performance last Friday, Cameron believes they will get even better in the coming weeks, “I feel like as a team we did really well, but we still got to clean up.” The Warriors did incredible in their first game. However, the team has a tough task ahead of them. The team will take on their cross-town rivals in a return to the Walnut Grove-Loganville Rivalry series. The two teams will clash on Loganville's home turf on Friday, August 23rd. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
