The Lady Warriors finished with a record of 14-7. They had notable wins over George Walton Academy (7-0) and Social Circle (2-0). In the first round of the GHSA Playoffs, the Warriors defeated the Jones County Greyhounds, 8-1. In the second round, the girls battled the Druid Hills Red Devils in a close game, winning 1-0. The Girls would unfortunately lose to Cambridge on May 5th at Cambridge High School (MaxPreps).

The team finished with a National Ranking of 412th. Ranked 66th in Georgia and 10th in Class 4A. They are also ranked 57th in Atlanta (MaxPreps).

This season is the best since the 2021-2022 season. The girls went 10-6, and defeated five teams 10-0 and one team 10-1. They defeated LCA, Prince Avenue Christian, McEachern, and Cedar Shoals 10-0 and defeated Apalachee 10-1 (MaxPreps).

The girls went on an extreme hot streak from March 11th to April 4th. They won eight straight games, winning against the Apalachee Wildcats, the George Walton Academy Bulldogs, the Cedar Shoals Jaguars, the Easy Forsyth Broncos, the Grayson Rams, the Flowery Branch Eagles, the Ola Mustangs, and the Monroe Area Hurricanes. They ended the season with a loss against the North Oconee Titans and a win against the Social Circle Redskins (MaxPreps).

Hannah Booth, Junior, shared her experience on the season. “I expected us to play the best we could, but I never could’ve dreamed we would have gotten this far [the sweet sixteen].” She also speaks on her expectations for next season. “I think we’re gonna go to the Final Four, and hopefully further, but I know we’re gonna get to the sweet sixteen again.”

Demarys Mendez, sophomore, spoke on how her team bonded. “We did a lot of team bonding to get to know the girls better, so that we would be better on the field together.” The Girls played tougher teams to help them prepare for this season.

When asked what the team could have done better to take home a victory against Cambridge, she stated, “I think if we played better defensively and stayed on our marks more. Also, [we could have been] kicking the ball straight up the field and playing it to our feet instead.” Her expectations for next season are to “make it past the Elite Eight.”

The Girls have done more than exceptional this season. They have worked hard and proven themselves time and time again. The Walnut Grove girls know how far they will go next season!
