They went against multiple schools but still came out on top. Some of the wrestlers gave us their input from the meet regarding how they performed and how they warmed up for their matches.
Luke Romero said that he thought his team played “pretty good overall; we all worked well and tried our best.” But he also said they could have improved “if we had stayed more coordinated and listened to the coach more.” Luke's preparation to get ready to wrestle was to get his blood going. His strategy for winning was, “Try my best even when it is hard.” To maintain focus on the mat, he said he “tried not to overthink anything and kept going as hard as I could.” When asked how he performed overall, he stated, “I did pretty decent because I won two matches and only lost one.” Graham Dawkins stated that he thought the team did well overall. “We did pretty good. We won the wrestling meet, so that's always good,” but they could have improved “by not getting pinned and fighting off our backs better.” To prepare for the match, Graham said he “made sure I warmed up and listened to music.” His strategy to win was, “Just try to score the next point.” To maintain focus, he “just kept wrestling and kept focus.” Overall, Graham thought he did “pretty good; in my last match, I wrestled a little slower than I wanted to.” Noah Welch shared his thoughts on how the team performed, saying, “I think we did well. All of my team members are very great wrestlers, and we have improved a lot over the years. We’ve come a long way as a team and we’re doing perfect this year.” He said the team could improve by using more strength and not being nervous. To prepare for a match, Noah said, “Just try to get my mind right and not worry or stress about how my opponent looks, and I wrestle the best I can.” The tactic he uses to win a match is to “score as many points as possible, and if I see a pin is available, I'll go for it.” While maintaining focus on the mat, he stated, “I just tried to predict my opponent's moves and their next move and try to counter it or defend it.” Noah reflected on his performance and stated, “I feel like I've done okay.” The wrestlers showed improvement and motivation to push themselves to victory, and they will begin doing it again Saturday!
