WBL Student of the month: Macie Norton

Macie Norton is the Work Based Learning student who is viewed for her excellent work at Walnut Grove, specifically marketing. She is a superb student in school and in WBL who has participated in numerous activities.

​Macie Norton is a student at WGHS who is currently participating in the Work Based Learning program. Macie works as an intern at Walnut Groves’ city hall and helps with the city’s social media accounts. She interacts with the community and completes any additional tasks, “When I’m not working on social media, I also help in the front office by filing papers, answering phones, and assisting with other daily tasks.”

Macie’s initial reaction to being selected as WBL’s Student Of The Month was shock and happiness. “I was so happy and honored to receive the award. I showed my coworkers at City Hall, and they were all so excited for me — that’s one of my favorite things about working there.” She describes all of her coworkers as family and supportive of her.

For Macie’s future career, she wants to work in the marketing field; she is already headed in that direction as an intern. She wants to major in Marketing with a bachelor’s degree but doesn’t know where she wants to go with her experience in marketing. “There are so many different directions you can take with marketing, and I’m still exploring which one I want to focus on most.” As a student interested in marketing, she found Mrs. Smith, the Marketing teacher, to be her favorite teacher and class. “Mrs. Smith has such a passion for what she teaches and explains everything in a way that makes it fun and easy to understand.” This shows where Macie received most of her interest in Marketing.

Macie is headed in the right direction, starting a career in marketing in the future. She is a hard-working student who takes initiative with the internship she has at Walnut Grove’s city hall.
