A new chapter begins for the Class of 2029 as they make the major transition from 8th grade to the start of their high school years.

Owen Ezell shared his initial impressions of high school: “Walnut Grove feels a lot more free, and I have more freedom,” highlighting WG’s atmosphere and the positive effect on new students. He initially plans on taking AP courses to follow his career plan at Georgia Tech, while also experiencing how to balance being a student athlete. Owen later compared the student body between high school and middle school, “It’s the little things that make this school good. In middle school, you don't have any friends at all, and you make them easily here,” showcasing many of the friendly and welcoming students here at Walnut Grove High School. We anticipate seeing Owen Ezell on the field with the Warriors as they face rival schools throughout the season.
Kaylee Fleming, a freshman here at Walnut Grove High School, is starting to see what this school has to offer. She emphasized the clubs and classes WG provides, she shares, “I’m mostly excited about JROTC and the CLC class.” Many students may have a hard time studying certain subjects, but WG educators are excellent with dedicating their time to help students, before and after school. “It’s really fun, there’s a lot of things that help me, especially the teachers. They are way more helpful than most high schools I’ve heard about,” Kaylee explains. Matthew Compton is officially experiencing high school and becoming a young adult. Matthew expresses the freedom he is feeling as a freshman. However, the new policies involving phone usage have been implemented, weighing in on his response concerning his high school experience thus far. He expresses, “I like [Walnut Grove], I think it’s more free; you get to do what you want. But it’s strict with the phones here.” The clubs and sports programs interested Mathew more. Matthew was intrigued by football, along with taking chemistry because of the criteria included. “I’m really interested in chemistry, because there’s a lot of stuff to learn; I can also use it for my future.” Many of the courses and electives here at WGHS can help with your future career and interests. WGHS is ecstatic to embrace all of our new freshmen students as they adjust into their first year of high school. The teachers and administrators anticipate you all to strive in your courses and succeed throughout the 4 years of your high school career.
