WGHS Seniors Dream Big with Future Goals

Walnut Grove seniors, Class of 2027, share their senior goals, future careers, and expectations after high school, representing their “E”: enrolled, enlisted, or employed!​

Walnut Grove seniors, Class of 2027, share their senior goals, future careers, and expectations after high school, representing their “E”: enrolled, enlisted, or employed!

Memphis Thompson, a senior here at WGHS, has three goals for her last year of high school. She wants to make a lot of friends and memories this year and is going to try to maintain a 3.6 GPA. After high school, her goal is to be involved with her college, just like she did here at Walnut Grove. Memphis plans on being enrolled, hopefully at UNG, majoring in poultry science. She knows that everyone has different experiences at Walnut Grove, but Memphis had "a really good experience at Walnut Grove." She says, "Everybody here is really nice; as long as you meet the right people and stay focused, you'll have an amazing time here." You always have to have a little fun before you go off to college, so Memphis plans on going to Europe and taking a gap year to see the world before she goes to college. Leaving high school is always a sad experience, and you will miss people, but it's the memories that count. Memphis will most miss "home, the people. It's so normal here, and I'm going to have to go out and everyone's going to be so different. I'm excited!"

​Micah Conley has a business mindset. "I want to start my own business, hopefully something local," says Micah, a senior at Walnut Grove High School. For his last-year goals, he stated, "...I want to keep all A's, be able to bench 315, and get into college." For his long-term goals, he hopes to make at least 100K with his business. One day, he wants to be able to afford his dream car. He is excited for this summer and is currently planning a long vacation. He mentioned, "...high school has been good. I like hanging out with my friends; I will definitely miss that the most."

​Sadie Luthi is a senior here at Walnut Grove High School! Some goals she has for herself for her last year are to get straight A's and better scores on her state-mandated tests. After high school, she plans on being enlisted, specifically in the Marines. Sadie states, "I want to work in infantry and work with weapons like guns..." Sadie also mentioned she wants to go to school to be a firefighter. In the next ten years, she hopes to be married, working as a firefighter, and to have her own family farm. She will also miss things about WGHS: "I really enjoyed school dances and hanging out with friends; I am probably going to miss them the most." For her first summer out of school, she plans to go skydiving, swim with sharks, and go on a cruise.

​Matthew Adams is an athlete with dreams for his future. Matthew had a hard time when he first came here, but now he is sad to be leaving: "My experience at Walnut Grove when I first came here was kind of awkward because I was in class and was mostly the only Black kid. It just takes some getting used to, and after a while, I became the face of the school, and it's been pretty good." He said he is most sad to leave his wrestling team behind and hopes to achieve his goal of becoming a champion and making it to state in track before he leaves. He also wants to raise his GPA to accomplish his aspiration of being enrolled. Likewise, Matthew hopes to pursue his wrestling career with his brother at Andrews College.
