The Walnut Grove Track Team met on Wednesday, March 4, for the All-Comers Meet, along with Morgan County, Prince Avenue, Clarkston, Redan, New Creation, Jasper, and Academe of the Oaks. The meet was a massive success, with WGHS athletes placing in the top five in almost every event. Many WGHS records were broken, including the girls' 4x800-meter relay, pole vault, high jump, and the 110-meter hurdles. Julius Tate broke the 110-meter hurdles record that has lasted since 2011. The record was broken with a 15.21-second time.
Junior Brady Dubal runs the 800 and 1600 for the Warrior track team. He feels as though the season started rough for him, but “I had a good comeback.” Speaking on the UGA meet on Saturday, March 7, Brady states, “I took 14 seconds off of my 800.” It was a huge improvement he has made this season. Brady highlights the atmosphere and feel of the All-Comers Meet: “It was a lot of fun. A lot of friends got to hang out in the bleachers, and it was the first time we've run all year, so it was fun.” He also describes the UGA meet as “the greatest experience of my life.” Sophomore Libby Rowe is one of the runners on the girls' 4x800-meter relay. She thinks this year's season is “off to a really good start. Where we left off last season is where we are at this season, so I think we're gonna go far.” She has been a big influence on the school’s track and cross-country teams, serving as a team leader and motivator in both seasons. Libby states, “We have the opportunity to go really far, especially the long-distance girls.” For many track athletes, training doesn't just take place during the season, but all year. Libby explains, “I really trained in the off-season and made sure I stayed consistent.” Many spectacular moments happened at the All-Comers Meet. For Libby, she explains her favorite moment was when “the girls' 4x800 team broke the school record we set last year.” The track team also had the opportunity to travel to UGA to run against teams all over the state. When asked about her experience, she said, “It was a great opportunity, the facility was really nice, and it was a good opportunity to meet competition we don't usually get at All-Comers meets.” As stated earlier in the article, the track team met at UGA on Saturday, March 7, 2026. They have also performed exceptionally well, keeping their streak high and climbing. Their next meet will be on Saturday, March 14. The location will be determined soon, but it is estimated to be at Loganville High School. Come out and support those Warriors as they continue their track journey for this season!
