WGHS put on a talent show on Thursday, February 29th after school at 6pm with the help from SkillsUSA. A lot of students performed, such as Jack Henrich, Elena Welch, and Gabriella Daniel.
by Malachi Lovett and Cheyenne Seagraves
Jack Henrich (Freshman) was the winner of the talent show, he says he thinks he did a good job, although he also feels like his performance felt like practice. He states some of the things he did to prepare, “I drank water, air drummed for practice, and just relaxed before my performance... Everyone was great.” He was very surprised that he had won, and he likes the talent show a lot. He was inspired to perform because he was thinking about how much fun it would be. “...And it was!” he ends.
Gabriella Daniel (Sophomore) says, “Well me and my friends did it last year, and we had fun, and I was supposed to go with a group… so I had to do the solo in like two hours.” She then states how she still performed under harsh conditions, “Well I already know like over a 100 dances so I just chose 4 dances that I was like hey, I know this pretty well, and I kind of just combined those 4.” She continued, saying that she enjoyed Alexandria's performance, not just because they are friends, but she loves the song "Almost Is Never Enough" by Arianna Grande, “I think she ate.” She then states that Jack did well and that he was nice, but she wishes she saw more group performances. “I think that would have been so cool.” Gabriella thinks more people should perform, “It's very funny; it's a little scary when you get up there, but after 30 seconds, you lock in because everyone, at least for me, starts to yell and they are being supportive so it's fun, it is still scary but fun.”

Elena Welch (Senior) mentions, “I just thought it’d be really fun, and I like singing, and I wanted to deliver a message too with my song since it’s my last year, you know. you don’t know anybody could be going through something.” She also comments about the other performers, “I liked all of them, I want to congratulate all of them”.
Speaking on the winner of the talent show Elena exclaims. “I just met him that day, and he's really cool, and I think he did a really good job.” Elena says she was really nervous so she was really relieved when she heard that she did really well, and that her mom said that some people were crying and filming her. Elena states that she would rehearse in her room. She also gave advice for anyone that wants to perform next year: “Just practice, and you know just think of it as like a fun thing, it’s not serious, it’s like a high school thing, just have fun with it.” Luke Blanchard (Junior) was a spectator, he says he didn’t care who won; it didn’t matter. It was all about fun and a happy community. This is the second year of a successful talent show at Walnut Grove. All around it's a great way for students, teachers, family, and friends to see what amazing things can be done by the talented students of Walnut Grove High School.
