Artists such as Rod Wave, Doja Cat, and Drake are confirmed to be releasing new albums later this September, with other potential albums as well. Keep up to date with the latest album releases with this month’s edition of Music Radar.
Rod Wave is known for defining the subgenre of soul trap. His newest project Nostalgia, set to release on the fifteenth, is said to be a follow-up of his 2022 project Beautiful Mind, which was certified platinum. Following this album release, the rapper will go on a tour spanning mid-October to mid-December. Since the release of her third studio album Planet Her in 2021, Doja Cat has adopted a darker image, claiming that she had a lot of pent-up feelings and anger which she expresses through style. Following singles such as “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red,” and finally “Demons,” many look forward to her edgier persona being reflected in a full album, while others claim that she has fallen off and she’s become “insane” and “demonic.”
There are few figures in music as revered as Drake. His two most recent albums Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss with 21 Savage both peaked at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, being his eleventh and twelfth projects respectively to do so. Now, Drake claims to be returning to his roots. Promotional messages for the album read, “I made an album to go with the book. They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.” The book he refers to is Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, a collection of poems he released in June with long-time collaborator Kenza Samir.
Drake’s father put out a message concerning his son’s upcoming album FOR ALL THE DOGS, releasing on the twenty-second. A comment on the reveal of the album cover on Drake’s Instagram page reads, “I had the pleasure of sitting in my Son’s dressing room and listening to this new album and I must say that it is some of the best music that I’ve ever heard him do, and I am sure that every Drake fan throughout the entire world is going to feel this one, everything about For All The Dogs is what we’ve been waiting for, Congratulations Son I really feel this one.” [sic] Other potential albums this month include H.O.O.D. P.O.E.T. by Polo G. While the album is said to have been delayed from its original release date of the fifteenth following two major arrests, the rapper’s October tour has not been postponed, so we can expect new music from him in the coming weeks. Lil Uzi Vert also has a potential project releasing this month. Following the success of their third studio album Pink Tape earlier this year, Uzi promised fans another, titled Barter 16, in the coming weeks. While it has taken longer than expected, when asked by a fan about the project’s release on Sunday, the tenth, they responded, “I'm trying to drop [it] by the end of next week because I'm trying to drop another album.” This September sees the release, and potential release, of many long-awaited albums. While the quality of these albums is yet to be determined, there’s no denying that the excitement for these projects is palpable. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
