Student Skin Care Routine
Freshman Kassidy Harris shares her morning skin care routine, “I use a cleanser, toner, facial serums, and a moisturizer.” This is the common routine. It's smart to start off with a cleanser because it deep cleans your skin and removes any dirt or traces of makeup left behind. Kassidy states that she uses these products: CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion, Neutrogena hydro boost, Elf energizing citrus spray, and skin boost daily face serum. ![]()
Tree Hut and Neutrogena
Tree Hut, an expensive body and skin care brand, has become popular on social media because of its heavenly, luscious smells. Neutrogena, a well-known brand at WGHS, is inexpensive compared to Tree Hut. Although, they are both somewhat pricey. "Tree Hut has high concentrations of skin-loving, plant-based ingredients," Tree Hut states. Sophomore Tyonna Puryear shares her thoughts on Tree Hut, “I like the Tree Hut’s scrubs, but they are a little too abrasive.” Sophomore Paris Wright shares her view on Tree Hut’s products. “I would like to buy all of Tree Hut’s products,” she exclaims. Tree Hut’s most bought product is the sugar scrubs. They have a wide variety of scents to choose from. Glamour lists the top used Tree Hut sugar scrub scents, “Moroccan Rose, Desert Haze, Vitamin C, Eucalyptus Blossom, Coconut Lime, etc.” ![]()
Neutrogena’s hydro boost collection is a very popular skin care product with students. Neutrogena describes the Hydro boost as, “...Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, this oil-free, non-comedogenic face moisturizer leaves dry skin looking smooth and hydrated day after day.”
At Walmart, the price for the Hydro boost is $9.00. Kassidy Harris and Paris Wright both use this product. ![]()
Neutrogena Makeup Wipes Alternative
Another product from Neutrogena that is widely used, but has negative reviews from students, “I use the Neutrogena makeup wipes, but I don’t like them at all. They are super oily,” Paris commented. An alternative that is safer for the skin and better for the environment is the Garnier Micellar water. It is used by Kassidy, Tyonna, Senior Bella Escobar, and Sophomore Nevaeh Patrick. ![]()
Starface Pimple Patches
Starface has products for acne, as well as skin care. The company answered a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) on their website, “You may use Hydro-Stars whenever you like, but they perform particularly well when left on overnight as that is the time when your skin is regenerating.” Tyonna talks about her experience with the pimple patches, “The star stickers are just better for public… I could use the other ones, the clear ones, but those are boring and you can see my fat pimple, and nobody wants that.” When asked what brand of pimple patches she uses, she stated Starface.
Well-Liked Products
Other products that these students have recommended are Dove, and Cetaphil. Dove’s unscented bar soap is good for the body, and is affordable. Cetaphil is on the more expensive side, but is dermatologist recommended for sensitive skin (from Cetaphil website). The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
