Creativity is everywhere here in Walnut Grove High School. From our teachers and staff, to the PTO and students. To start off the first week of December, get ready to take a deep dive into the creative student minds that win video games, compose masterful music, and put their pens to a new kind of paper and create outstanding works of art.
First up is a game master with an UNREAL style of play. Junior Kekoa Johnson, an avid PC gamer, has been grinding away in Fortnite. So when Fortnite announced a new limited time game mode called “Fortnite OG” was being released on November 3rd, Kekoa said, “I knew It was time to stand on business.” Sure enough, like clockwork, Kekoa was hard at work grinding away levels in Fortnite OG. In only a few days, Kekoa was seen climbing ranks to eventually place Unreal as the season closed out. It's hard to say what his performance will look like in the latest update but if his previous gameplay is anything to go off of, Kekoa Johnson has surely got the skills and the talent to keep climbing through the ranks, from the looks of it, he won’t be stopped. ![]()
Next up, a musical mastermind, a soundsmith if you will, Dairion Peters is truly creative inside and out. Dairion is a musical composer of all types. If you can think of it, Dairion will definitely hear of it. Whether it's rap, trap, pop or you're just after a huge drop… he’s got you covered. Hard at work in FL Studio, Darion slices and dices tracks to jumble it up and make something new, next he gets up to mix it down and deliver some seriously quality tracks. Peters has got serious and undoubtable potential. Keep an eye out for any drops he might make, he could really switch up the style and chop up the flow.

To draw the one last line in the sand. Digital Artist Emery Brown turned paint to pixels earlier this year and has begun to push boundaries he once wasn't able to with the traditional pen and paper. He says, “...Coming from the traditional style of art with pen and paper, then transitioning to digital art- It’s like learning to draw all over again- It's like a whole new skillset, there's so much you can do through digital art that you just simply cannot do with traditional styles of art”. Even with all these new tools at his fingertips, Emery stated “Keep a notebook, it's good to keep both skillsets well developed, it helps make you a better, more well rounded artist”.
With a new year just around the corner, maybe you could start your creative journey and show off a special talent of your own that the world around you has yet to see. The possibilities out there are limitless, you never know what's possible till you try. Who knows, maybe you're the next greatest online hit waiting just around the grove.
