Girls Varsity
Before the Game The Walnut Grove High School Girls Varsity team has played against Madison Country before. Last year, they lost against the Red Raiders with a score of 6-0. But this year, The Warriors have plans to defeat Madison County for good. Carolina Reyes, a starting senior, shares how she plans to play Tuesday night. “I’m definitely gonna play forward a lot more, and we just need to make sure that we do better passes, and just go forward, and shoot a lot.” Though it may not seem like much, these plans could potentially allow the warriors to reach their goals. After the Game The Girls Varsity team pulled out a win of 4-0 allowing the Red Raiders to score no goals. Each goal was done with elegance and precision as the girls flew up and down the field. This win leaves the girls regional record at 6-1 and their overall record at 8-5. Zoe Moser, a sophomore on the team, says, ”Off the first goal we knew that we could win, and we had a positive mindset and kept that the whole game to help us do well.” Zoe feels like the win was, as always, a team effort. “I would say our communication and our teamwork helped us, like we really connected in that game with our passes. We worked as one unit.” Apparently, the girls have not only been practicing, but they’ve also been team building outside of school. Which, in obvious recordings, seems to be keeping them on a straight path to victory. ![]()
Boys Varsity
Before the Game The Boys have played against Madison County many times before. Dylan Calvo, one of the seniors on the team, has witnessed this. “My sophomore year, we beat them pretty easily, I think it was like 5-2. And then last year we beat them 7-2.” According to Dylan, “They’re definitely, from what we’ve seen from Maxpreps, they’re not good as always. [They’re] almost similar to Social Circle or North Hall, but as always anything can happen this season, so we just have to be prepared for it”. After the Game The Boys’ Varsity beat the brakes off Madison County’s boys. A whopping 8-1 was the final score. Walnut Grove’s players had ease on the field, and according to Aiden Bird, “Their team wasn’t as good as we expected. Expectations were low before the match, but playing them felt even easier than ever.” The game started off a little rocky, but eventually was smooth sailing. By halftime, Walnut Grove was up 2-1. Afterwards, Walnut Grove dominated the match. Scoring again and again, the Warriors came on top 8-1. With a positive mindset, anything can be achieved. This was shown on Tuesday during the games. Walnut Grove’s boys and girls showed dominance and excellent skills. We hope they continue to excel the rest of the season. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
