“A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder” Comes To Small Screen in July 2024 on Netflix- (SPOILERS)

“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is a young adult book series by Holly Jackson that was released in 2019. It’s the first book in a trilogy with “Good Girl: Bad Blood” and “As Good As Dead”. There is a novella, too, called “Kill Joy”. The series is about a girl named Andie Bell who was killed by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. Pippa reviews the case for a project, but finds hidden secrets that could potentially prove Sal’s innocence. 

Ansleigh Hester, Sophomore on the VIRIDIAN School News Team, shares her love for and thoughts on the books, “Hopefully the characters will look the way they do in my head. And also, I hope the plotline is sort of the same. Like, I want them to change it up a little to surprise me... I also hope the relationship between Pip and Ravi will stay. If they break up or something, I’ll be upset.”

​Ansleigh shares some of her favorite parts from the books. “I’m in the middle of the second book right now, but my favorite book will probably be the first book because it’s a mystery type of book, and those are my favorite plotlines. Like, they’ve got anniversaries of this dead girl and they think the boyfriend killed her and himself. So yeah, the first book is my favorite.” She continues on, expressing her favorite scene. “[Pip] is talking to this girl who she had a problem with in the first book. Pip accused her of being involved in the crime in the first book, which she technically was because she did a hit and run with her friends and left the guy on the road. I think it’s crazy how Pip tries so hard to figure out things going on in her town and this girl is just being rude. Like, Pip is just trying to help. Like, sure she was wrongly accused, but all of the evidence led to you doing something wrong. I just think it’s crazy.”

Ansleigh finishes off by revealing some things she is excited to see in the show. “I just really want to see the first book in real life. And I really want to see all of the characters and how they are going to create them. It’s a hard thing to do because you’re not going to get the actors and actresses you want to play the parts and I really want to see how they do that.”

Moonage Pictures brings this story to life with Emma Myers starring as Pip Fitz-Amobi. The show is expected to be released in July 2024 and can be found on Netflix when released.
