WGHS students Ava Brooks and Ansleigh Hester give their hot take on the new Hunger Games movie that’s based on the book, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.” This movie came out on the 17th of November.

Ava (Junior) has some very strong opinions about the movie as a whole “It's truly a cinematic masterpiece, and I think that everyone should see it if you haven’t... And if you don't, we cannot be friends because that is an amazing movie,” she adds.

Also having a hot take on her favorite character and why, “Let's not talk about how I [liked] president snow the whole time. Guys I know he's bad, let's not talk about it, let's just move on.” She further emphasizes her point by verbalizing that Tom Blythe is incredibly attractive.

Ava gives her final rating and thoughts on the movie as a whole. “A 10/10. It was really, truly wonderful.” She ends her point by saying, “It was everything to me, and I just… it makes me happy.”

Ansleigh (Sophomore) starts vocalizing what this movie is about, “Throughout the whole thing it was like a love story sort of. So it was like between Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray.” She then goes to say [Coriolanus] is a manipulator for sure, and how he loved the capital more than [Lucy], and she realized that by the middle or near the end of the movie, and that's why she left him. Ansleigh thought it was really good, and she enjoyed it a lot.

She also says, “It’s just that good. It sets the scene of why he's the way he is, why he chose this path and all of that stuff, and it really just gave a lot of background knowledge that I really like.”

Ansleigh then says Lucie Gray is her favorite character because she plays guitar, and sings.  “...She just sounds so beautiful and also she beat the odds… No one thought she was gonna win the hunger games.” Ansleigh says she would definitely watch this movie again, “I tried to go onto my tv and try to find it… I think it’s just that good.” She finishes by giving this movie a 9/10.

The film features famous actors, Viola Davis, Hunter Schafer, and Peter Dinklage. Based on these ladies' opinions, it sounds like a worthy watch. IMDB rated this movie a 7.2 out of 10. One watcher said, “The acting was strong. The actors were well suited for their roles..” They elaborated, “The story was engaging and separated into three parts that made it enjoyable.”
