On March 6th, 2024 staff and students of WGHS participated in The American Red Cross blood drive at the gym to help save the lives of people who need blood.
Royail Rhodes (11th) donated blood, and he said, “I was a bit nervous, but I wanted to help people who are in need of blood.” He did not have a certain reason why he donated, but he just wanted to join a good cause. Diego Que (11th) donated as well, “I think it’s important to donate blood because a lot of people need blood.” I (Ari Carreon) also donated blood to the blood drive. It is important to consider other people. I have experience with my own family and friends needing blood. It is always good to help your community and people around you. WGHS's annual blood drive is very important. It is amazing that students and staff volunteered and helped people in need of blood. WGHS plans to keep on hosting blood drives and making an impact. The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, they are there to serve the people and the community. The organization also does blood drives all around the country. Karla Crawford is a nurse working for the American red cross. “I have been with the American red cross for 20 years. I have always been interested in working with donors, I love my job.” is what Karla Crawford said about her job. She said, “One pint of blood could actually save three lives. We have it to where you could donate two pints of blood and save six lives, And by saving those lives it is saving people with trauma, chemo patients, and kids as well.” It is pretty amazing that just one person who donates one pint of blood can save three lives. Blood drives like these have helped save hundreds of lives. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.
