Coachella Weekend 1 2024: Nights To Remember

The annual music festival known as Coachella has arrived once again. The festival took place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, from April 12-14. Famous musicians Lana Del Ray, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat headlined the celebration.

Hayleigh Hardy, a junior at WGHS, expresses her feelings about the weekend.  “I was very, very happy with it. I was kind of mad, though, because I missed when Olivia Rodrigo played. Like that’s actually insane because she’s for real a great artist.” Hayleigh adds her adoration for one of the guest star appearances. “I was also really happy to see Lil Uzi Vert there. Like, that’s my dawg; for real, that’s my man. I love him.”

Hayleigh continues on, exclaiming her affection for one of the headliner artists. “I was so happy. [Doja Cat] ate that up for real, like no joke… I’m also pretty excited for next weekend. The lineup seems pretty good. I’m ready to see Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean play.... Overall, I was happy with it.”

Freshmen Layla Hartis and Ella Wilkins also provide feedback on the event. Ella Wilkin’s starts off, “I liked watching it. I mean, it’s just a concert like any other one, except it’s Coachella, so I guess it’s more special. I liked when Billie Eilish made an appearance, though.”

Layla Hartis joins in. “I like Lana del Ray. But Coachella is just a bunch of influencers and ghetto people. It’s just a miserable festival that people think is fun, apparently.” 

Coachella attendance has been dipping in recent years. Has Coachella entered its “flop era”? The influencers who show up don't generate the same enthusiasm as influencers before. They oversell, so the large groups are uncomfortable for many young people.
