The WGHS Cross Country teams placed 1st and 2nd in the Walton Country XC meet on September 16 at Loganville Christian Academy.

The Cross Country team had an outstanding performance on Saturday, September 16th. The boys team came in first place while the girls came in second place.

Senior Will Jarzen explains what was going on in his head prior to the race, “I felt really good going into it. I had just looked at the teams that we were going up against. I knew that we just had a shot at winning.” The Warriors took 2nd-5th places to solidify their win:
  • Nathan Taylor - 2nd - 19:18:62,
  • Will Jarzen -3rd - 19:44:83,
  • Ian McKenzie - 4th - 20:11:76
  • Christopher Myers - 5th - 20:17.07

Will explains how the team prepares themselves before this meet. “We were training really hard, and just pushing ourselves to see how far we could go.” He is proud of his team, and he knows all the hard work everyone has been putting in paid off in the race.

The girls came in 2nd in the county as a team with a solid performance, taking 4th, 8th, and 11th-14th.

Christina Casey (11) said, “I was really nervous about how I would do, but then after I ran, I was so happy and proud of my team because we have been working really hard.” A lot of emotions can be running through an athlete's head whether it be excitement or fright.

Top Ten finishers for the girls: McKenna Parker placed 4th with a time of 22:44:83, and Aubrey Barnett placed 8th place with a time of 25:22:85.
