The first week of October here at Walnut Grove High School, we’re celebrating our hard-working beautification specialists who take care of all the behind-the-scenes maintenance for our school for Custodians Week.

Whenever you see them, say hey and thank you. It can be any time of the year.
  • Billy Jordan
  • Johnie Crawford
  • Carlotta Brown
  • Rufus Brown
  • Nancey Durden
  • Linda Griffith
  • Mary Johnson
  • Billy Maddox
  • Dennis Toney
  • Marcell Sanda

Mr. Billy Jordan is the lead custodian here at The Grove. He has been in the county for over 20 years and has been a custodian here at Walnut Grove since it opened. Mr. Billy is the one behind the scenes who makes sure all the moving parts of the school are operational and ready so that the teachers are able to come in ready to teach and students can come in ready to learn.

Mrs. Linda Griffith is another custodian here at Walnut Grove. She's been a custodian for 6 years, four of which have been her and she puts in so much hard work and it's a shame to think it might go unnoticed. Mrs. Linda stated, “I love working here. The best part of my job is the students and their smiles… I was tired of working where I did so I decided to do something about it.” Many students here at Walnut Grove connect with her and the other custodians each day. She is a positive inspiration to those around her.

Mrs. Mary Johnson has worked here for 15 years and is loved by all. She said, “I love the atmosphere and enjoy how the teachers, the staff, and the administration make us feel like part of the family and that we’re at home.”

To finish off this week, VIRIDIAN News would like to thank the custodians for all the hard work they put in,  and we wish you a great fall break and look forward to seeing you back to finish out the first semester of the 2023-’24 school year.
