Does Morgan Wallen “Stand Alone” After Being Arrested?

Makenzee Kelley discusses with students of Walnut Grove to see if they support Morgan Wallen, or if he stands alone. The famous star was arrested with three felony charges on April 7, 2024 for allegedly getting drunk and throwing a chair off of a rooftop in Nashville after his ex, KT Smith, got engaged.

Freshman Mattie Reeve starts us off by voicing her opinion on the situation. “I think it’s stupid that he got arrested because he just threw a chair and it didn’t even hurt anyone. I feel like it was bad that he threw the chair. Like, he probably has some issues going on in his head that nobody knows about if he is that upset about his ex getting engaged.”

Makenzee and Mattie talk over the artists’ songs and albums. “Compared to others, his new album is okay. It’s not my favorite, but it’s just okay. I don’t really have a favorite song, but I don’t like ‘More Than My Hometown’ and ‘Don’t Think Jesus’.”

Freshman Alannah Burns also gives her input on the circumstance, “I didn’t even know he got arrested, but I think it’s pretty stupid because all he did was throw a chair off of a roof. He didn’t hurt anyone, I don’t think.” 

Alannah says she feels like he was justified to act like that. “I feel like if me and my girlfriend broke up, I would probably do something pretty stupid, too.” She did agree with his actions, even though she doesn’t like his music. “I’m not a big Morgan Wallen fan, so I didn’t like his new album. I kind of hate him, actually. But if I were put in that situation, I would do the same.”

Junior Ashlynn Wallace provides her input on Morgan Wallen’s situation. “I think that what he did was crazy, since he almost injured a cop. It’s a little extreme. However, I would do the same. Like, when you love someone, and they love someone else, that hurts, man. So I get it.”

Ashlynn says she loves his new album. “It’s really good. I enjoy listening to it. It’s, like, similar to his other albums, so I enjoy it.” She adds on, “I’m not sure what my favorite song would be. In his new album, I like ‘Ying Yang Girl’ and ‘Sleep When We’re Dead’, but overall, I think I like ‘Sand In My Boots’. My least favorite would probably be ‘Broadway Girls’.”

​Morgan Wallen has become a heartthrob to many country music fans since he started to gain popularity in 2016. He has released tons of albums and singles, and some of his most popular songs are “Up Down”, which is one of the songs that sparked his popularity, “Whiskey Glasses”, and “Wasted On You”. Morgan Wallen also started to release a new album, “Stand Alone” in January 2024. 

Morgan Wallen has many tours to do this year, and many fans to attend to. However, some reports say he may be sentenced up to fifteen years in prison for attempted murder. What does the future hold for the beloved singer?
