As the 2022-2023 school year comes to an end, students prepare for the next year, where freshmen become sophomores, sophomores become juniors, and juniors become seniors. It’s a big step up for juniors when becoming the top of the school, so to give a little insight, Josie Allen expresses how she’s feeling.

Josie Allen, currently a junior at Walnut Grove, has attended Walnut Grove all three years and has run track since her freshman year as well. Over the years, she has learned many valuable things when it comes to life in general. “One thing I’ve learned and reminded myself of is to know who your real friends are,” Josie stated. “People can stab you in the back whenever they please, so it’s good to know who your true friends are.” The support from family and friends is what gets you through high school, so it’s good to be nice and friendly with everybody. When it comes to advice, Josie tells underclassmen to “be nice to everyone, and don’t be rude because you think it’s cool.” You never know what people are struggling with behind closed doors, so why not be nice?

Like most students in high school, whatever the grade level, students are ready to get high school over with and out of the way. “I’m looking forward to graduating, but not at the same time,” Josie explains, “I don’t want to go to school another year, but at the same time, I’m also not looking forward to having to get a job and actually take responsibility for my actions.”

Yes, school isn’t fun when it comes to having to do work, taking tests, and all of that “nonsense”, yet the experience you have while being in school is overwhelming and thrilling. The sports events you attend and the friends you make, along with the relationships you build are amazing. For those who can’t wait for school to end and “get it over with”, don’t wish it away because time flies, so enjoy it. Soak up every feeling and memory you have because down the road you’ll wish you had.
