First Day Fashion

WGHS students weigh in about their overall style choices and what they wore on the first day back to school this year.

​Freshman, Alyssa Baldwin, who supplied a picture of her outfit, stated, “I wore baggy jeans, and I wore a dead pool shirt, with my Nikes because I thought it looked cute.” 

She then states that she got her outfit from Ross in Monroe, and continued about where she usually gets her clothes, which is Amazon or the mall. She states, “It was almost near school time and we didn't have enough time to go to the mall.” Because she didn’t have time, she chose the closer option on Ross. She goes on to say, “My bracelet [is my favorite] because I’m matching with my friend. It’s an evil eye bracelet.”

 She then explains where her style is from, “Tikok and pinterest.” She also states that she thinks her style is “cool.” She also talks about how her style has changed, “I used to wear a bunch of skirts, and now I wear a bunch of pants, and I look cooler now.” 

She ends with her favorite outfit of the school year so far, “I really liked my spiderman shirt, with my ripped jeans because I thought I looked good in it, and spiderman is my favorite character.”

​Junior Ivey Arrington provided the picture of her outfit, “I wore some cute little jeans, with my cowgirl boots, and a cute little floral tank top with a little cardigan over it... I looked cute.” 

She also reveals where she got her outfit and accessories from, “I got my jeans from Ross, I got my shirt from TJ Maxx, I got my cardigan from Goodwill, my boots from K and D shoes, and my purse from Walmart.” 

She usually shops at Goodwill because she claims they have “cute, cheap clothes.” She then reveals if her style has changed, “A little bit, always changing, recycling, you know how it is. I used to be a little more edgy.”

“My glasses [are my favorite accessory] ‘cause they help me see, or my new cute little flower purse.”

She described her style as "pretty, feminine, Y2K". She also said her favorite outfit of this school year was, “Probably my first day fit … just felt good.”

Junior, Gianna Pittaluga shares a picture of what she wore on the first day. “I wore some green overalls with a white shirt with a crystal orange necklace.” She added, “Yeah, it was pretty cool, I thought I looked pretty cute.”

While following the topic about clothing, she spoke about the evolution of her clothing style over the course of the school year. “Yeah, I used to be an emo little vampire, now I’m a cute little fairy in your little garden, prancing around...” She emphasizes this point by saying, “...like a little creature in your garden eating all your herbs.”

She went into detail about her favorite outfit that she has worn so far, “Probably, the one I wore [Monday], the green flowy pants, with my little black cover up, with a black shirt, it was super flowy, super cute, and I had my dogs [toes] out.” She chose this outfit “because it was so comfortable, and flowy and free, and I also had my dogs out... I don't like socks.”

This school year, students continue to improve or change their style in their own unique ways, and express themselves through what they wear. This school year has many opportunities in store for these amazing fashionistas.
