WGHS students Elya Williams, Avionna Rosario-Charles, Alexandra Romero-Guerrero and Violet Henrich give their hot takes on thrifted fashion.
With there being many thrift shops around, students tend to favor similar thrift shops. Freshman Elya Willams says, “I go to Goodwill and Park Avenue.” In similar taste, Senior Violet Henrich states, “... I go to Goodwill and use Depop.” “I look for baggy clothes and sometimes tank tops” Junior, Alexandra Romero-Guerrero stated. Elya also looks for baggy clothes, another common theme among thrifting. On the other hand, Senior Avionna Rosario-Charles states, “Right now I'm going for a baddie, grown up look, kinda classy.” Avionna continues, “I go to shoes then I go to the dresses, if there's any.” She looks for crop tops, baggy jeans or skirts. Violet leans towards clothes that are flowy and are old looking. “My style is 70s vintage”, she adds. She also explains, “...I look for colors and patterns.” she finishes by saying,“I usually go [thrift shopping] on Saturdays…”
Unpopular Opinion: Avionna hates Rick Owens boots that are really high and chunky, and Alexandra thinks the galaxy print is ugly. Elya says, “I think bucket hats are weird.”
Thrift shopping is a common trend in the fashion industry, these shops are made up of items that were donated by people and are considered an environmentally friendly option.
