As WGHS juniors and seniors began to prepare for their bright futures, they gathered information about college and career a the annual Probe Fair on September 7, 2023.
The Probe Fair was an event held at George Walton Academy last week, where students were invited to get information from their favorite colleges. This gives many students the opportunity to figure out what they want to do in college, and it helps them narrow down their options for what college they want to attend.
This is what Aaliyah Lopez, a senior at WGHS, says the Probe Fair is all about. “The Probe Fair is where you go look at colleges, ask questions, and get information about college.” Aaliyah says that she’s interested in the University of West Georgia, Spelman College, and Piedmont University. UWG is a public university that is popular for its psychology and criminology programs. “I want to major in criminology, psychology, or pre-med,” Aaliyah said she wants to be a future forensic psychologist.
Lacy Bates is a junior here at WGHS. Lacy attended the probe fair that happened last week. Lacy was asked what the Probe Fair was about, and she responded with, “I think it’s about getting to experience the different types of colleges and what they are about.” She expressed that the colleges were unique, that every college did something differently, and that she loved the opportunity that they give. Her top colleges are Athens Technical College and Truett McConnell University.
Lacy wants to pursue her dream in healthcare and major in nursing. If Lacy can get into any college of her choice it would be University of Georgia because she heard that they offer a great nursing program. The 11th and 12th graders bring pride to WGHS as they plan their college futures and extend their education.
