Recently, Netflix has added the action-movie classic, John Wick, to their platform. Not only did Netflix add the first movie, but it also added two of the sequels. There has been speculation surrounding the fourth and final movie joining Netflix December.

Recently, Netflix has added the action-movie classic, John Wick, to their platform. Not only did Netflix add the first movie, but it also added two of the sequels. There has been speculation surrounding the fourth and final movie joining Netflix December. 

John Wick being on Netflix is a big deal due to the popularity of the movie and its impact on the genre. No matter if you have seen the movie or not, John Wick is a name everyone knows or has at least heard. The movie about a retired hitman coming back to avenge his dog’s death, has amassed a large following in the movie industry. With sequels being well received and the audience wanting more, a spin-off series has been released titled, The Continental, which goes in depth into the rich history of the hotel John Wick stayed in during the movies. The John Wick universe is one of the most popular topics in pop culture. Fans of the movie talk about the movie so much that they get others to watch the movie. “Everybody has watched John Wick and talks about it, so let me give it a watch,” says Aaron Lane.

​Damir Patterson said, “Someone told me to watch it, they told me it was a really good action movie, and it was.” The character, John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, being so well liked even got a skin in the popular battle royale game, Fortnite. “Since he was in Fortnite, I was guaranteed greatness when I saw the movie,” Hanson mentioned when asked about his first time watching the movie. Many are pleased with the arrival of the movie on Netflix.

Netflix: Moving Forward
Netflix being home to many original movies and shows, people were shocked when the rights to John Wick were purchased by Netflix. Other movies were also purchased, including many belonging to Warner Brothers. Aaron Lane when asked about the direction, reported, “I love the direction Netflix is going in, they used to be going in a terrible direction and they would put movies and shows nobody knows. Recently they added way better titles.” Hopes are on the rise for the popular streaming service.
