Rewinding the Clock! - Semester Recap

​The WGHS semester recap is full of school events, sports and just interesting things that impacted the people here at The Grove, let's look back on SOME of the memorable moments this semester.

False Fire
On August 9th, 2023 the students and staff at WGHS were faced with an unplanned evacuation that led to everyone enjoying the early morning air. Later it was revealed that the cause of the false fire alarm was a faulty AC system dripping water.

Football
In August of 2023 the football team made it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of the school, what an amazing accomplishment!

Volleyball 
On August 7th, 2023 the Volleyball team won their very first game of the season as well, WGHS has had a wonderful 2023 year for our sport teams.

Homecoming/Pep-rally 
September 23, 2023 was WGHS’s Homecoming, the theme, Glow. The dance was undoubtedly the highlight of that week along with the Pep-rally the previous Friday. Both events brought together and shined light on the community spirit at Walnut Grove.

"A Piece of My Heart"
On September 30th, 2023 the WGHS drama club performed their beautiful play, “A Piece of My Heart.” The heart jerking play took place during Vietnam and talks about many of the women that served during the war.

Warrior Warehouse 
This October WGHS proudly opened the new Warrior Warehouse that has quickly become a hit amongst the student body. The new school store offers a variety of items ranging from WGHS merchandise to snacks and drinks.

Cheer in State
On November 9th, WGHS gathered to send off its cheerleaders with cheering, clapping, and music, as they made their way to the state competition. That weekend they placed 9th!

Matthew Perry R.I.P  
We all mourned the loss of Matthew Perry, F.R.I.E.N.D.S star, who passed away October 28, 2023. His death will forever leave a lasting impression on others.

Beatles     
On November 2, 2023 the Beatles released their final song ever recorded. The song “Now and Then” was written and taped by John Lennon in 1970 and only just released for public ears now. The Beatles has an incredible impact on the world and is a favorite amongst teachers and students here at WGHS.

​WGHS has had a wonderful year with many accomplishments this fall alone. As we wrap up this semester, let's cherish the memories and look forward to the adventures that lie ahead next semester.
